This week, we are highlighting the community of Oak Manor. This community is located on the outskirts of Waupaca, WI, making it a quiet place for residents of any age to enjoy. The city of Waupaca is known as a tourist spot and features many unique spots for shopping and entertainment. · The city of Waupaca is thought to be named after the Potawatomi chief, Sam Waupaca. (Wapucka)
· Waupaca Foundry is the largest corporation in the entire city, employing the majority of its residents.
· From 1899 to 1926, there was a major streetcar service offered by the Waupaca Electric Light and Railway Company which offered services to hundreds of residents each day.
· The original settlement of Waupaca was located right near the Waupaca River, which in present day is called the Tomorrow River.
