This week’s community highlight features the small community of Markesan Park, located in Markesan, WI. You may have never heard of the town before, that would be because it has only about 1,400 people! The town motto is “A Grand Community” which definitely fits the town’s history and how tight knit the community is as whole. Its location is reasonable, residing about 20 minutes away from Ripon and 45 minutes from the bustling city of Fond du Lac. This allows residents to partake in what those cities have to offer with just a short commute. If they would rather stay close to home, Markesan does have a number of activities for residents to partake in. Little Green Lake is a popular lake for fishing, specifically for Musky, Bass and Panfish. For hunters, Pheasant Creek is a spot to enjoy that sport and interact with others with the same interests. If sports are not for you, the Pineapple Hill Orchard is a perfect spot in nearby Green Lake to pick apples and enjoy nature. The Markesan Tea House is another quaint spot for relaxation and enjoying a nostalgic, Victorian atmosphere. Local shops are also plentiful throughout town. The community of Markesan Park itself is very quiet and allows residents to live a relaxed lifestyle while still being close enough to the nearby cities. Pets are allowed and the nearby Markesan School District makes it a perfect choice for families.
