A FEW FUN FACTS:
· The village’s namesake of “Lannon” comes from the “Lannon stone” which is a type of limestone that was quarried there. At the time, it was widely used to build bridges.
· Italian, Polish, and German immigrants were first attracted to the area, as they were most skilled in stone cutting.
· The 1st ever ESPN broadcast was of a softball game held at Joecks Field in Lannon.
· The Lannon Quarry was in use from 1880 to 1900 and small remnants of that time still exist, such as railroad tracks, a historic stone crusher and the Lannon rock itself.
