Community Highlight - Lake Bluff

This week’s Community Highlight features Lake Bluff, located in the city of Kewaunee, WI. This city sits on the northwest shore of Lake Michigan, making it an ideal spot for those who want an escape to the water. Kewaunee’s prime location, about 40 east of Green Bay, gives residents the charm of the local city close by while living in an area with less commotion. It is also only about a 35-minute commute from the picturesque Door County peninsula straight shot north of Kewaunee. Stunning trails, parks and scenery are plentiful for enjoying as well as outdoor recreational activities for those who that interests. The Ahnapee and Ice Age National Scenic Trails are both a short distance away and offer entertainment for people of all ages. Try your hand at horseback riding or take a scenic hike through the forests of Wisconsin. Bruemmer County Park is a great spot to relax when you have finished adventuring. The Kewaunee Pierhead Lighthouse is another point of interest for those interested in the rich history of the area. The community of Lake Bluff itself is nestled right in central Kewaunee. It is close by to the local marina, as well as the local park, restaurants, and hospital. The community offers a small-town, pet friendly environment that is sure to be a comfortable spot for all residents. The Kewaunee School District, home to the “Storm” is a convenient three-minute drive away, making Lake Bluff a great choice for families with children. A FEW FUN FACTS:

· Kewaunee’s namesake comes from the Menominee name “Kewaneh” meaning an archaic species of duck.

· The city is conveniently located nearby to both Highway 42 & 29, both of which connect travelers to other bigger cities in the region, such as Algoma, Manitowoc, and Green Bay.

· Kewaunee is home to the World’s Tallest Grandfather Clock, a local attraction loved by tourists.

· Historically, the Kewaunee Pierhead Lighthouse was constructed to replace range lights from the original Fresnel lens, of which only 70 remain operational in the United States.
