This week, we have chosen to highlight the community of Harbor Lights, located in the bustling town of Menasha, WI, the state’s second largest. The town has a prime position right off of the northwest shore of Lake Winnebago. This lake is Wisconsin’s largest, and offers a plethora of outdoor recreation opportunities for every season including fishing, boating, and windsurfing. The town of Menasha itself is also found at the mouth of the Fox River which offers even more natural beauty for residents to enjoy. Menasha’s downtown area is vibrant and has a prime location right on the riverfront. Shopping and dining opportunities are plentiful and there is always something going on. As the “bridge” of the Fox Cities, Menasha is also the center point for attractions in that area. · Doty Island, a local scenic spot, is located partially in the town of Menasha. This area provides beautiful views of the Fox River basin and the Fox Valley.
· The town’s namesake comes from the Menominee phrase “little island”.
· Menasha is primarily located in Winnebago County, with only a small section located in Calumet County
· 1.49 sq. miles of the cities total 7-mile area is made up of water.
