The COVID-19 pandemic is testing all of us in different ways. If you live in the state of Wisconsin and have found yourself in the unfortunate situation of not being able to pay your rent or are facing eviction, the Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program (WRAP) may be an important resource for you and your family to take part in. The program is made possible through the federal CARES Act. Below, we go a bit more in depth about what the program entails and how to learn if you are eligible.

To be eligible for this assistance program, you must be:

- An adult Wisconsin resident

- Have a total household income at or below 80% of your county’s median income rate. This number must come from either the current month or one previous to the month of application. Anyone below 60% income have priority.

- You MUST show documentation proving loss of employment or a reduced income.

The assistance that the WRAP provides varies, but typically those that are eligible can obtain direct assistance for owed rent as well as funds for security deposits. This assistance is in the form of up to $3,000 total per household. The funds are not paid directly to you, but to your landlord or property owner.

Where you will apply will be based on the county in which you currently live in the state. The graphic below provides a list of application sites distinguished by county.
