The BEST Technology Updates for Your Mobile Home in 2020!

Let’s face it, technology is all around us and it does not seem like it will be on its way out anytime soon. When you think of tech, your mind might go directly to smartphones, computers, or smart TVs but there are also a number of new gadgets that are built specifically for your home. Most of them are fairly cost effective and only require a smartphone and Wi-Fi! They are designed to not only simplify your life, but also to keep you and your family safe and secure. Below, is a list of some of the most popular “smart home” products and their uses. Could you find use for any of these products in your home?

· “Smart” Lights - Remembering to turn the lights off when you are finished in a room can sometimes be difficult, especially for younger children. Smart lightbulbs can be installed in any room in your home and connect just like a normal lightbulb. Instead of just relying on a switch, these lights can also be controlled by a smartphone or laptop computer. They give you more control over your electricity usage and also a few other fun options along the way. ($20-25)

· USB Power Outlets – While traditional wall outlets only feature two ports for plugs, USB power wall outlets also include additional ports on the side for a smaller USB plug to be inserted. Some devices, such as smartphones and certain appliances, are easier to use with this type of link so these outlets provide a simple way to simply connect and go! ($15-20)

· Digital Thermostat – For a more personalized thermostat experience, consider switching your traditional thermostat for a more updated, digital one, such as a Nest or Honeywell. Many newer mobile homes actually already have this type of system installed, but if yours does not it could be a great option. Instead of manually having to enter the temperature you would like, you can program the system to set a certain temperature depending on the time of day. This means when you are at work or sleeping overnight, your house can remain a stationary temperature without you having to constantly adjust. Bought new, these systems can be a bit pricey but there are options to buy used ones. ($100-200)

· Smart Assistant Device – Items like the Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are great ways to add some extra fun into your home. If you are not familiar with these products, they are essentially personal assistants that you can program to help with specific tasks in your home. Once purchased, they can be programmed to assist you with anything from switching the lights on and off, turning on your favorite movie, or just to answer a question. The devices are meant to be there for the user and are completely customizable. ($50-60)
