COVID-19 & Our Communities

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the country, we have all had to upend our daily routines and practices. Some have been impacted more than others. As an organization, Home Source One is staying committed to ensuring the health and safety of all our residents throughout this unpredictable time. We have made some changes to our practices for the benefit of all our residents, staff, and community members. Limiting contact in community spaces, shifting communication formats and routine sanitizing are all steps we are taking to reduce the spread. Another technique we have started to implement is using “virtual tours”. Since holding home showings is tricky during this time, we are directing visitors to our online images and floor plans so that they are able to get a better idea of what the home looks like in the comfort of their own home before scheduling a visit.

We are also remaining conscious of the struggles some of our residents may be facing and providing assistance whenever possible. One way we can do so is aiding in the distribution of lunches to the children in our communities. Manor Hill, located in Eden, WI is just one of the communities benefiting from this outreach. The local school district has been dropping off both breakfast and lunches to the community office each day during the pandemic for the residents to come and pick up. This gracious act is allowing the children in our communities to continue to eat nutritious meals even while they are not in school.

Things will settle with time, but for the time being, it is important to stay positive and find activities to distract yourself. First and foremost, we can try to appreciate the extra time we are getting to spend with the people we live with. In normal times, it is so easy to get caught up in our typical day-to-day lives. We now have an opportunity to realize the valuable family time that is being given to us at the moment. Finding simple things to do with your family can be valuable during this quarantine time. This can be something as small as taking a walk around your community, while still following proper social distancing guidelines, or organizing a simple activity for those in your home.
